Breakfast/Dining RoomThe dedicated Dining Room for guests is located in one of the ground-floor rooms; not strictly a cellar, as this floor is on the same level as the back door. This is the room which would have been used by the Cook-cum-Housekeeper during her waking hours. At the rear of the house, it gives access to the rear door whilst being close to the kitchen. Just by the door, high on the wall, is the board which displayed the bells used by the owners to summon service. Although the springs are no longer attached, we still have 4 of the original bells. The board can be seen on the photo (top right). As with the other two rooms on this level, the floors are stone-flagged. There is no sign of any dampness anywhere. The room is centrally heated and the windows are double glazed. If you ask nicely, Sarah might show you the original working kitchen, and the stone sink . The BIG stone sink. |
